Does the Auto Live View feature on the Smart Display E10 work differently when the screen is locked compared to when viewing a live stream?

Yes. When the screen is locked, the Auto Live View feature will promptly display the streaming screen; on the other hand, while the user is viewing a live stream, the Auto Live View feature will display a streaming notification for the user to choose whether to view it or not.
